I love this dress I got from Target a week or so ago. I'm a sucker for simple black dresses though because the possibilities are endless and it's a cinch to throw it on with some jewelry and a cardigan if I just can't think of anything else to wear or I'm running short on time. This dress will definitely be a staple for summer. And can we talk about this bracelet? I'm in LOVE with it. It's so different than any other piece of jewelry I own and I'm really excited to incorporate it into more outfits! Just wearing it makes me feel fancy.

One thing I do love about my new job at LOFT is that it challenges me to come up with interesting-LOFT-inspired outfits everyday! Since I'm still new and haven't yet bought enough to wear what they sell, it's been even more challenging since I have to reinvent my existing wardrobe. Not to mention I'm really trying to avoid spending money that I don't need to spend... it's not going so well. A good thing is that my wardrobe is slowly expanding to include pieces that are much better quality and hopefully ones that I'll hang on to for a few years to come. I still have LOFT pieces from 3-4 years ago that I love. It's all for good, right?

I had a really good day at work today. I finally feel so much better about all the crap that was going on before. So with that and the fact that I felt like I looked pretty cute today, I'd say this Wednesday was a success! Chris and I had some pizza for dinner and that was just the cherry on top (I really love pizza...). Anyway. Here's to the rest of the week being just as sucessful! Happy hump day!

This outfit is so strange to me. I (as usual) came up with this idea whilst drifting off into dreamland last night and thought to myself that I must be crazy, but also that it might just be crazy enough to work, and so it did. I wouldn't normally put purple and green together like this, but for some reason it seems to work. And this skirt has always been an issue for me... I still don't know why I even bought it! I think I was in that omg-I've-lost-weight-so-I-buy-anything-and-everything-that-fits phase a few years ago when it happened. Either way, I think I finally, finally found out how to wear it so it looks good on me!

Furthermore, I'm so glad this week is over! Well, after tomorrow anyway. I love three-day weekends! I have a big strawberry, blueberry, patriotic trifle to make for the 4th of July get-together at my parents' house and I can't wait to see how it turns out! I've only made a trifle once before, but it's so hard to mess up I'm almsot certain it'll turn out okay. As long as your mixing strawberries, blueberries, cool whip, pudding, and strawberry cake together, you can't go wrong. It may not look as pretty as I want it to, but at least it'll taste good, and that's all that matters. What're your Independence Day plans?

chicken boobies

Hehe... okay, so really, chicken breasts, but saying chicken boobies is funnier! To get to the point, I made chicken gumbo tonight! It was SO good! And super spicy! But the way I see, mo' hotter, mo' better. I got the recipe from here, but I have to be honest, I really only read the ingredient list and then just went on my own from there. That's just how I cook most of the time. Baking on the other hand, has to be precise! Not to mention, this recipe didn't even have okra! I really don't think you can call it "gumbo" without okra... and maybe sausage, but I was trying to keep this on the healthy side.

It was so warm this weekend, but the past two days have been a little chilly! So I wore some super comfy leggings under my dress and whipped out my new boots I got from etsy a few weeks ago!

Fish is finally getting used to the new apartment now that all of her toys are here and we're finally starting to get everything unpacked! I also think she loves to just get all up in whatever we're doing! Computer, TV, photos, working out, getting dressed, even using the bathroom! She likes to "help" as I call it. As I type, she's running around the living room like crazy playing with a wadded-up piece of paper, haha. Cats are so entertaining.

Chris and I are watching the last episode of season 4 of Dexter and the suspense is killing me! Agh! So I'm going to give it my full attention. Later~

wishie wishlist

I really will update with an outfit soon. I mean it! I'm wearing a pretty cute outfit today, so I plan on going home and taking outfit pics before I head to the gym. I've been SO stressed lately with the ending of my current job and the starting of a new one. And then Thanksgiving cooking and eating and sleeping, and now that the holiday shopping season is in full swing, if I get online, I spend my time perusing through various sites ordering Christmas presents and taking advantage of online sales. Not to mention, I picked up the first four seasons of Dexter at WalMart during Black Friday, so the beau and I have spent whatever free time we get either at the gym, or watching Dexter. And I'm hooked! I love crime dramas (with the exception of CSI and NCIS... I dunno, just can't get into them) and especially things that highlight forensics. Only thing is, I'm dying to watch more, but I promised the boyfriend I would wait on him. Aren't I nice? hehe. Since he now lives and works an hour away from me, I only see him Wednesday nights, and then I get him for the weekend, so I'll have to wait until Wednesday to see what happens next! But anyway, I thought I'd share what's on my wishlist for this year (:

Did I mention Christopher already got me THE most amazing Christmas gift?! A white Kitchenaid stand mixer!!!! I've wanted one for so long, and we saw one in the Black Friday deals at WalMart, and he got for me! So now, it's sitting in my room, staring at me as I hold out until Christmas to use it. I've already been thinking about what I'm going to make first with it! Chris wants homemade pizza, but I need a dough hook for that. I'm leaning towards cookies, simply because I've been making homemade cookies all this time by beating the butter and sugars together by hand. It's tough! I can't wait to use it! Since my birthday is only 2 weeks after Christmas (January 7th) I might even use it to make my own birthday cake! (:
