The absence of a full-time job and never-changing schedule has left me with an inability to develop any routine. I guess it's one of the perks of having a full-time job, but it's nothing to make me want to go back to one. I feel much more in control of what's going on in my life because I feel like I have more time to do things that I want to do, instead of having to fit it around a job where someone else determines when you have time to live your own life.

I still worry about money, and having enough to pay bills, but it's beginning to look like I'll be okay. I don't get to live as lavishly as before, but it's okay. I really need to learn to appreciate what I've got and quit lusting after a life I can't afford. Besides, I really have nothing to complain about.

I have started freelancing though! I keep procrastinating on redesigning my website because I fear the coding it will take. I know it won't be that bad once I start, but nothing is more intimidating than a blank page.

One thing I do love about my new job at LOFT is that it challenges me to come up with interesting-LOFT-inspired outfits everyday! Since I'm still new and haven't yet bought enough to wear what they sell, it's been even more challenging since I have to reinvent my existing wardrobe. Not to mention I'm really trying to avoid spending money that I don't need to spend... it's not going so well. A good thing is that my wardrobe is slowly expanding to include pieces that are much better quality and hopefully ones that I'll hang on to for a few years to come. I still have LOFT pieces from 3-4 years ago that I love. It's all for good, right?

My first fashion post of 2013! So what, it's already 4 months in but better late than never, yea? I don't really know what I'm doing with my life right now. And the fact that I have no solid future plans is scary to me... so I just try not to think about it. I'm working part-time now and I still don't know how I feel about it. But when I think "Would you rather be back at your desk at your old job?" I respond to myself with a resounding "HELL NO." Then again, I can't imagine myself working retail for very long either.

What does that mean? Why don't you just change something if you don't like it?

I'm trying. At least, I think I am. It's just that I really don't know what I want to do. I love doing graphic design... but I really hated 9-5 every. damn. day. The monotony was slowly killing me and I could feel it. So freelance then, right? Maybe that's where I need to go. Building up a client base will be the hardest and most important thing I need to do, and I'm working on that. Slowly, but surely. But I honestly wouldn't mind going back to a 9-5 if it catered more to me as a creative individual, hindered by a lack of windows or the inability to surf the net unmonitored every so often.

I know I'll figure it out. It's just the when that I don't know. And that's okay. I'm learning to be okay with that.

Simple outfit for a simple Thursday at work. I don't have much to say about this outfit, except that it did look a lot better on me at the beginning of the day, before it got all wrinkled. I should carry around an iron. Anyway, I'll be posting a little more substance tomorrow, about my weekend and cake! Yes, CAKE!

dress: vintage via Eureka Vintage
shoes/flower: urban outfitters
necklace: vintage via my mother :)
ring: forever 21

I finally wore this dress I got from Eureka Vintage! I loved it when I saw it in their store, but had to wait for that ever-elusive paycheck to come in before I could get it. I was so worried it'd be gone by then, but it wasn't! The dress actually fits better than I thought it would. I bought it even with that in mind since I'm trying to (but not actually, apparently, boo) lose weight and figured I'd fit into it sooner or later, but it fit great the first go-around!

It is so freakin' hot down here it's insane. I found this pretty Biloxi-themed mural on the wall of a random restaurant and we jumped out of the car just long enough to take pics and get right back into the car with the A/C. Pathetic. And I'm Southern, born-and-raised.

I am so ready for winter to come that I made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast on Sunday. Yes, pumpkin in the middle of June. It's stuff like this that makes me pretty certain I could survive in a more northern climate. Maybe someday.

Oh, and yes, I dyed my hair again. I loved the purple, but after the first wash or so, you could barely see it anymore. This hot pink stands out a lot more and I love it so. Next time, I'm going to give the teal a try.

wishie wishlist

I really will update with an outfit soon. I mean it! I'm wearing a pretty cute outfit today, so I plan on going home and taking outfit pics before I head to the gym. I've been SO stressed lately with the ending of my current job and the starting of a new one. And then Thanksgiving cooking and eating and sleeping, and now that the holiday shopping season is in full swing, if I get online, I spend my time perusing through various sites ordering Christmas presents and taking advantage of online sales. Not to mention, I picked up the first four seasons of Dexter at WalMart during Black Friday, so the beau and I have spent whatever free time we get either at the gym, or watching Dexter. And I'm hooked! I love crime dramas (with the exception of CSI and NCIS... I dunno, just can't get into them) and especially things that highlight forensics. Only thing is, I'm dying to watch more, but I promised the boyfriend I would wait on him. Aren't I nice? hehe. Since he now lives and works an hour away from me, I only see him Wednesday nights, and then I get him for the weekend, so I'll have to wait until Wednesday to see what happens next! But anyway, I thought I'd share what's on my wishlist for this year (:

Did I mention Christopher already got me THE most amazing Christmas gift?! A white Kitchenaid stand mixer!!!! I've wanted one for so long, and we saw one in the Black Friday deals at WalMart, and he got for me! So now, it's sitting in my room, staring at me as I hold out until Christmas to use it. I've already been thinking about what I'm going to make first with it! Chris wants homemade pizza, but I need a dough hook for that. I'm leaning towards cookies, simply because I've been making homemade cookies all this time by beating the butter and sugars together by hand. It's tough! I can't wait to use it! Since my birthday is only 2 weeks after Christmas (January 7th) I might even use it to make my own birthday cake! (:
