Sorry, these photos probably aren't the best I've ever posted. I forgot to set the exposure/shutter speed before giving Christopher the camera and so they turned out really dark. And after a long Monday at work followed by a trip to the gym, I was too tired to do much editing to them :/ (Chris knows how to set that stuff up... I dunno why he won't)

We took these at my parents house last weekend after my brother's 21st birthday celebration and a childhood friend's wedding. I really love this dress! It's like a tunic, so I paired it with a belt to give me a waist, but unfortunately in doing so the dress got a bit shorter, hence the tights.

Ugh I am SO tired! I have more to type about but I just feel like my arms are too weak. Haha. I'm so pathetic! I'm going to post tomorrow though about a little personal challenge I think I'm going to try come June 1st!

...or something like that. I was called 4 things today: Motley Crue fan girl, flower-child, weird (by the boyfriend! haha) and tattoo-artist. None of which I ever would've thought of, but I'm glad my outfit sparked interest in my co-workers today!

Things have been everywhere lately. I haven't been very inspired with my outfits until yesterday. And of course I jumped into my gym clothes as soon as I got home and forgot to snap an outfit pic. They were on Instagram, though... and twitter ...and tumblr.

Chris and I are headed to Mobile for the weekend! I hope some of my friends will find me worth a trip out of the wood-work to see me. If nothing else, I get to see a long-time childhood friend marry her high school sweetheart, AND it's my lil' bro's TWENTY-FIRST birthday! I am buying him a shit-ton of alcohol. He needs it. I'm sure you've all seen or heard of the tornados that ripped through much of the southeast, and one city hit the hardest was Tuscaloosa, AL. My brother happened to be in the middle of that storm, but luckily the only thing lost was his beloved truck. So now, truckless, my parents have to go pick him up 4 hours away and bring him back to Mobile to help him try to find a car and get him back to work.

Have a lovely weekend!

This is my second time wearing this skirt, first time posting. Can you believe these used to be shorts?! I bought these on clearance @ Charlotte Russe for maybe $4, took them home and just cut the crotch out! They were really billow-y shorts and looked terrible on my short frame as-is. I'm still not sure if they were shorts trying to pull off the billow-y look that's trending right now, (see this and this) or if they were meant to be pajama shorts.

I wish I had remembered to take more photos of this, my favorite owl brooch. My mom got it on one of her antique show hunts and gave it to me for my birthday. The neat thing about it is, you can lift up the owl's little stomach, and it has a little circle filled with this wax-y stuff that looked a lot like the finger chapstick tins. Apparently, you put a little wax circle of fragrance in there, and you had it with you all day to re-apply when needed! It actually still has some fragrance wax in it, but it smells just like old ladies... or if you're familiar with the Butterfly Flower scent from Bath & Body Works... it smells just like that!

I saw this wall about 2 weeks ago while we were driving around downtown Biloxi, trying to make our way around the St. Patrick's Day parade and fell in LOVE with it. I am definitely taking more pictures in front of it. It also happens to be the wall of a bakery/cafe, so the entire time we took these pictures, we could smell fresh bread! We resisted this time, though. Maybe next time.

I'm not too crazy about this outfit, which is why I only ended up picking a couple of photos. I have to admit, I've been suffering from a little cold for the past few days (thanks, Dad) and therefore haven't been feeling very inventive. I really like this dress, but it wrinkles if you look at the wrong way. And since it has this weird tapering in the front, it makes the dress stick out like it's been crazy-starched after I sit in it a while and stand up again! I think, though, now that I've washed it a few times, it calmed down because it didn't turn out that bad in these pictures. I do feel I should cut out those pockets on the front since they seem to box out my bottom half. Shouldn't be too difficult!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I hope you all remembered to wear green! It was so funny — everyone who got in the elevator at work this morning was wearing green! I love when everyone gets into the spirit of holidays and such.

Not much planned for this weekend, and I'm actually pretty excited about that! My parents and my lil' brother are coming to visit tomorrow and we're all going out to eat somewhere. Saturday, we might be going to Chris' cousin's wedding, if we ever find out where it is! I'd love to fit in a movie somewhere this weekend. We're going to finish up the 30 Day Shred on Saturday, take a full day of rest on Sunday and then I'm starting a new workout routine. I seem to be rambling along. I guess I'm just tired!

DSC_0042

In honor St. Patrick's Day, along with wearing green, I also made Vegetable Shepherd's Pie! Wow. It was so good! And we have leftovers for later, which makes me more excited :]

wedding of a friend

DSC_0051

This past Saturday, Chris and I went to a wedding for my coworker/friend, Dara! Her theme was vintage/tiffany blue/blush pink, it was gorgeous! She and her hubby got married at this beautiful southern-style mansion with huge columns, chandeliers, and the like. The wedding was outdoors, right at sunset, and the reception moved inside where there was so much delicious food!
(excuse the unimaginative scenery, we were running late!)

DSC_0054

It was a real challenge finding a dress for this wedding because I wanted to match her theme and I didn't have anything already in my closet. After a failed attempt at ordering a dress from ModCloth, I finally found this lacey one at a boutique in Mobile! I was hesitant to buy it, since I guess it's not really Kosher to wear white to a wedding, but this dress was closer to a beige and the more I wore it, the more pink it actually looked!

Oh yea, you can really tell the difference in my hair color from the pictures we took Saturday! It's not a huge difference, but my color is little more lively and uniform now.

I really hate daylight savings time. I can just never get over the fact when I'm lying in bed, after my alarm has gone off for the first time and think about how last week at this time I had another hour to sleep! Ugh! Daylight savings should have it's own holiday! I so could've used another day off to get used to the time change.

Right now, Chris and I are watching the last episode of season 2 of the UK version of Skins. I was really liking this show but the second season is such a tear-jerker! Ugh... it's almost too depressing to watch!

There's some belly-stuffing peanut butter oatmeal in the oven right now, and I can't wait until tomorrow morning to have some for breakfast! Sorry I didn't take photos of the process, but it was really too simple to even bother! It smells so good though, and I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with oatmeal and peanut butter.

The boy and I are going to do the shred level 3... it's our last week!

owls

I have a soft spot for owls. I have lots of little owl necklaces and rings and such. And I happen to be wearing two of my favorite owl accessories! I should probably stop buying owl things, or soon that'll be all I own! And actually, a lot of the owl things I have are gifts. Gifts from enablers! Haha, jk. I love my owl stuffs!

Today at work was rough! My partner-in-crime is getting married on Saturday, so she has off tomorrow to get ready and that leaves me all by my lonesome in our office. And that means we had to crank out everything due today AND tomorrow... or at least most of it, so I wouldn't be left with too much to do. We spent all day printing signs, mounting, laminating, cutting, delivering, designing... phew! I'm just glad today's over, and tomorrow should be a breeze, with nothing but a little delivering and some design work to do.

After work tomorrow, Chris and I are heading to Mobile for Art Walk to see a few of our pieces hanging at the Mobile Arts Council. It's Wacom tablet drawings we did for our illustration class that we both took together about a year ago. So Chris' is awesome, and mine... well. Honestly though, I'm looking forward more to the free wine/snacks, other peoples' art, and seeing old friends! And then Saturday is my friend/co-worker's wedding! Her theme is vintage/lace/etc. and I can't wait to see how it turns out! I know it's going to be beautiful.

I dyed my hair tonight! It looks about what it did the last time I dyed it this color. It's darker, and a very subtle red. It looks so pretty in the sun! I'll probably be taking the camera to Art Walk tomorrow night... hopefully I'll get some pictures showing off the new hue! (doesn't the girl on the box look like Alanis Morissette?!)

Have a happy Friday!
