oh my

I have SEVERELY neglected my blog and it makes me feel so empty inside! To bring you up to speed, I finished my last day of work at my last job that caused so much drama the last month or so on the 10th, had a nice 4-day weekend, went to training for my new job @ the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino on the 15th, and then went right into work the next day! So, for those of you not familiar with the Gulf Coast, Biloxi, Mississippi is home to a slew of casinos on par with those of Las Vegas, just turned down a little and with loads of Southern charm... it is also about an hour away from Mobile, Alabama, where I'm currently living. So, that means I'm driving an hour to work and an hour back everyday! As you can imagine, this situation leaves me a lot less free time during the week. Luckily, Chris has a job in D'Iberville, Mississippi, just 5 minutes from Biloxi, so I normally get to hang out/eat dinner with him after work (which usually puts me getting home even later) AND we just signed a holding on an apartment just a block from where Chris works! We're moving in February and I'm so excited! SO, in between getting a new job, commuting, finding an apartment, AND Christmas shopping/wrapping/celebrating, I haven't had much free time to update. I have still been keeping up with cute outfits, but I often get home and jump into my jammies before I remember that I could've taken a picture or two. I even got myself a remote for my camera!

And now that I've explained my absence, I promise to be back for the new year! I'm making one of my new year's resolutions to update this blog twice a week! And once Chris and I move into our apartment, I should have no problem sneaking in blog photos and upates(hopefully we'll score some nearby wi-fi).

By the way, I am LOVING my new job! I'm working in the advertising department as a print production assistant! I get to design all sorts of things for the casino, then print, assemble and deliver them! It's so much different than my old job :]

Happy New Year everyone! :]
(also, I'll probably (hopefully) be implementing a new design soon!)

HOW TO MAKE POM-POMS:
I love these things. And once I get some more time/money (there's a great etsy store here) I am totally putting some up in my room. Her dog is cracking me up with that folded-over ear and adorable sweater. Enjoy! :]

o, christmas tree

Finally! An outfit post! I was so frustrated last night when I went to post this because the internet went out and stayed out ALL NIGHT!!! After countless restarts of various hardware and troubleshooting, I gave up and blamed it all on Comcast. Stupid Comcast. It's okay now though. Thank goodness. I still have Christmas presents to order!

Look at our Christmas tree! Eee! It's my very own first full-size (albeit fake) Christmas tree! Christopher and I got it at Target for $20! And it's 6ft tall! Then we got twinkling lights for about $5, and then two boxes of ornaments for $10! I am a little sad that we had to get a fake tree, but I really don't have the resources to a. get a tree onto my little scion tC, b. pay for one, or c. take care of it/clean it up. So, maybe another year. Oh well. To make up for it, I went to Bath & Body Works and picked up a wallflower with an evergreen scent, so it's almost like the real thing ;] I love the smell of Christmas trees, it really puts me in the holiday spirit!

Friday marks my last day at work where I am now. Ugh. I can't wait! This whole thing was all so unexpected, but I'm glad that it happened. Next week I have off, with the exception of training on Wednesday, and then I'll find out when I start my new job!

In other news, my birthday is in exactly one month. January 7th. I love birthdays, I really do... but I think the last time I had a really successful birthday party that I can look back on positively was when I turned 21 (I'll turn 24 in 2011). Since then, they've been a bust. Especially last year, holy mess. Michelle was the only person to actually celebrate with me on the actual day... and then only 2 people showed up to my party (not counting Michelle who was my roommate at the time, so of course she was there... but then again my other roommate just didn't ever show). It makes me so depressed looking back on it. And I know this year won't be any different. Which is why I'm just going to have dinner with my boyfriend and then a family dinner with my folks. My birthday is on a Friday this year, which is awesome... AND I'll be working at the Beau Rivage (it's a casino/resort in Biloxi, MS) in the ad department by then, so I'm going to try to get a hotel room so I can just stay and celebrate with Christopher and eat, drink, and gamble my little heart out to try to forget about the fact that I have no friends willing to celebrate my birthday with me. Wow emo, much? I can't help it lately. I had such a hard time with what happened at work, and none of the people who've ever called me "best friend" or "friend" ever came to me with their shoulder to lean on. However, I did feel better because the people who actually did come forward offering care and support were people I haven't spoken to in a while or hardly even know. It still hurts though. It's like I graduated college and now I don't exist. Sucks. So, I started this blog with hopes of making some friends and maybe build a friend base in another city that Chris and I could move to once we save up money and gain some more job experience and build our resumes. /emorant

Sorry to end on such a sappy note, but I feel better getting that out there. Positive thoughts for me? I could use 'em. I love my 13 followers! ha (:

wishie wishlist

I really will update with an outfit soon. I mean it! I'm wearing a pretty cute outfit today, so I plan on going home and taking outfit pics before I head to the gym. I've been SO stressed lately with the ending of my current job and the starting of a new one. And then Thanksgiving cooking and eating and sleeping, and now that the holiday shopping season is in full swing, if I get online, I spend my time perusing through various sites ordering Christmas presents and taking advantage of online sales. Not to mention, I picked up the first four seasons of Dexter at WalMart during Black Friday, so the beau and I have spent whatever free time we get either at the gym, or watching Dexter. And I'm hooked! I love crime dramas (with the exception of CSI and NCIS... I dunno, just can't get into them) and especially things that highlight forensics. Only thing is, I'm dying to watch more, but I promised the boyfriend I would wait on him. Aren't I nice? hehe. Since he now lives and works an hour away from me, I only see him Wednesday nights, and then I get him for the weekend, so I'll have to wait until Wednesday to see what happens next! But anyway, I thought I'd share what's on my wishlist for this year (:

Did I mention Christopher already got me THE most amazing Christmas gift?! A white Kitchenaid stand mixer!!!! I've wanted one for so long, and we saw one in the Black Friday deals at WalMart, and he got for me! So now, it's sitting in my room, staring at me as I hold out until Christmas to use it. I've already been thinking about what I'm going to make first with it! Chris wants homemade pizza, but I need a dough hook for that. I'm leaning towards cookies, simply because I've been making homemade cookies all this time by beating the butter and sugars together by hand. It's tough! I can't wait to use it! Since my birthday is only 2 weeks after Christmas (January 7th) I might even use it to make my own birthday cake! (:

how-to thursday

I've decided to make Thursday a How-To day, seeing as how the past few weeks have been so hectic and have barely left time or energy for me to post outfit pics. So anyway. I've always been in love with the fish-tail braid, but I'd never tried or even knew how to do it. I looked up some videos and found out it's actually really easy! I'm crappy at braiding my own hair for some reason... I'm an expert on others, but that whole side-braid or behind-the-head routine just ends up looking dumb :/ I've messed around with this since watching this video, although not very seriously, and while it is much easier for me than a traditional braid, having layers in my hair makes a bit difficult. I'm going to practice for real tonight and wear it to work tomorrow if I'm successful!
